David P. Garrett

Founder/Pastor

Bio: Pastor David Paul Garrett is the youngest of eight children.  A native of Washington D.C., he joined the US Army and completed a tour in West Germany before being stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia.  After he ended his tour of military service, he accepted employment with the federal government where he retired.  He has been a faithful and loving husband to his wife Patricia since their marriage and is a proud father of two adult children and a grandfather of three.

A number of things happened in his early years which lead him to believe that he had a special task or call in life, but it was while stationed in West Germany under the leadership of Pastor Collins that he found the path that led him to that call.  In 1982, he accepted the call into the Ministry.  During that time he was teaching and preaching at New Harvest Outreach Church in Columbus GA, in nursing homes, in prisons and also being a team lead for door-to-door witnessing in the community under the encouragement of his Pastor, James Tolbert.  In 1988, while continuing to teach and preach at the Bread of Life Christian Center in Columbus GA, again he recognized God’s call and with the blessing of his Pastor, Larry Skinner, Pastor Garrett founded the Messiah Outreach Christian Family Church.

He held various positions during those early years as a choir member and choir director, a team lead for the door-to-door ministry, a lead for a youth ministry, an adult Sunday school teacher, and a coordinator for a nursing home ministry.  He preached at several community street services and preached at the local prison.

Throughout his life, he has continued to express faith in and love for God through his ministry gifts and through his dedicated lifestyle.  Under his anointed leadership, Messiah Outreach Christian Family Church has seen lives changed, set free, and delivered by God’s power and grace.

Patricia Garrett

First Lady

Bio: First Lady Patricia Garrett is the 7th child and 2nd daughter of 8 children the other 6 being boys.  She grew up in Northern Ohio.  She joined the US Army and served in Maryland, Kentucky, West Germany, and Georgia.  While being stationed in Germany, under Pastor Mary Pope’s leadership she accepted Christ.  She met and married David P. Garrett while being stationed at Ft Benning, Georgia and attending New Harvest Outreach Church under the leadership of Pastor James Tolbert.  She is the proud parent of 2 adult children and is also the happy grandmother.  

Patricia, with God’s help, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Computer Science at Troy State University and earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration at Columbus State University.  She accepted a position at Columbus State University in the Computer Science department and transferred to the ROTC department and finally to the Financial Aid Office; she remained in that office and retired in the position of the Associate Director of Financial Aid.  

First Lady Garrett has enjoyed singing and music since she was a young child and was active in her school and church choir throughout her elementary and secondary educational years.  She continues to minister through music singing in the Praise Team, Adult Choir and formerly in the Voices of Praise at her church. She is the Adult Sunday School teacher and is one of the Youth Church teachers.  She has led a women’s exercise class. She is a help-meet to her husband managing most of the financial affairs of the church. First Lady Garrett has worked along-side Pastor to help the people of God grow and feel the love of God.  She truly believes in encouraging others to strive to be the best that they can be.
